About Me

My creative journey started with photography, which I studied at college in the early 90s. I was never able to do very much with it though, as my husband and I ended up relocating abroad for his work and my visa did not allow me to run a business. I kept myself busy with waitressing and then volunteered at the aquarium on the island, my main job was working with the seals, and turtles

— one of my favourite and most rewarding times in my life.

Once we moved back to Scotland and as my children grew older, I realised at some point I would have an opportunity to return to the world of work. It would have to be something that would give me flexible hours to fit around a busy family life. I embarked on becoming a yoga instructor, however after my final exams I knew teaching yoga was not to be for me, and my desire to create was constantly on my mind and had to be explored...

...So I took a weekend ceramics workshop in Edinburgh in 2018 and I knew straight away that I had to make ceramics a full time venture. When I told my husband I wanted to take up ceramics he said “That’s fine, but this time you have to commit.” So I did. My kiln arrived in October of that year, and I purchased myself a Rohde wheel in early 2019. I did my first craft fairs in late summer of that year, and I haven’t looked back since.
